9th International Educational Conference Cancelled

Dear Edgar,

Today, the Board of Directors of the Pilates Method Alliance announced that the PMA's 9th International Educational Conference in November 2009 in Dallas, Texas is being cancelled due to the economic downturn.

Please see the statement below from the PMA Board.

Having kept a close eye on our conference sales in recent weeks, it has become clear that in the current difficult economic environment we will not have enough delegates to go forward with our 2009 conference. As many of you know, we conducted a survey in mid April. The survey indicated that many of our regular attendees would not be able to come to the conference due to the global financial downturn. The current registration figures for our 2009 conference reflect this fact; our sales are down by 70%. As such, it is with great reluctance that we must announce the cancellation of the PMA's 9th International Educational Conference.

We are disappointed about the cancellation because a great deal of work went into preparing a valuable event for 2009, and because we were looking forward to seeing our colleagues in Dallas in November. On the other hand, we feel this decision demonstrates that we are proactive and responsive to current economic realities, and able to make the tough decisions necessary to be fiscally prudent with the funds entrusted to us by the Pilates community. As a not-for-profit organization, we must be responsible to our alliance members, certificants, delegates, sponsors and exhibitors, to ensure that we do not operate the conference at a loss, as this would draw away funds that are needed to continue other essential functions of the PMA.

The next PMA conference will take place in Long Beach, California, November 4 - 7, 2010, and will mark the 10th anniversary of the PMA. We look forward to a spectacular new program and celebration!

Delegates who have already paid for the 2009 conference are being offered a refund, or an open credit with the PMA which they can apply to the 2010 conference, membership, merchandise, or any of our other offerings.

We wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing you in 2010 in Long Beach to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

Sincerely,

PMA Board of Directors

Our Commitment to Quality Control

Here at PilatesApparatus.com we pride ourselves on selling the highest quality, handcrafted and professionally tuned Pilates Apparatus available on the market today. Many of our previous customers have written us over the years to thank us for building such remarkable products. And while we would love to tell you that it is our care and commitment to Joseph Pilates original intent, the truth is that we have a secret weapon that allows us to be able to deliver a better piece of apparatus than our competitors. His name is Sebastian and as you can tell from the pictures below, he is an expert at testing our apparatus. Whether he is adjusting springs on a reformer, testing each piece of equipment for maximum performance, or just working out, he is our last line of quality control before anything heads out of our doors. So if you own one of our apparatus, or plan on buying one in the future, please don’t thank us, thank Sebastian.

This Wunda Chair would pass a Joseph Pilates inspection!

It's a Baby Chair, he's a baby. Why do you think he got into this work?

Pilates Doesn't Cost, it Pays

With the economy faltering people are looking for ways to cut back wherever they can. More often then not, that means reducing medical care, eating foods that aren't as healthy, and spending less time and money staying in shape.

This is the wrong way to think. Staying in shape saves you money. It lowers the chances that you will need medical care, your body requires less food because it is working more efficiently, and your positive self-image leads toward improving yourself in other ways. It is a lifestyle choice that relives stress, is a healthier way to live, and a necessity for people who wish live a better life.

Just as keeping your mind sharp as you age, we all know that keeping healthy leads to increased overall wellbeing. This is where Pilates can help you save money because Pilates is comprehensive; every exercise is a step to total integration of the body systems. Keeping up on your Pilates is a solid financial investment. So in this time of tighter wallets, let Pilates help you keep a tighter powerhouse and you'll be richer for it.

Lessening Pilates Environmental Impact

Our commitment to the Pilates Method extends beyond the fusion of mind and body and into the community itself. To us, it is the extension of finding our natural strengths, counteracting its weaknesses, and correcting for imbalances. We have but one world to live in and at PilatesApparatus.com we promise to maintain the mindset laid forth by Joseph Pilates that our minds can control our muscles and in turn our actions.

Because of our volume and in-house design and manufacturing we are able to offer some alternatives not currently found at other Pilates manufactures. Some of these differences include vegan friendly straps made of military grade Kevlar instead of the standard leather, environmentally friendly packaging, and an ever reducing carbon footprint that we are very proud of. We believe that each of us, doing our part, can make a positive difference and help provide a balance for years to come.

Health for the Holidays

Each holiday season brings with it the ups and downs that can be attributed to any joyous occasion. Family, friends, parties, food, and presents all add their own special touch to the usual festivities of this time of year. And it is in that spirit that we reach out to those we love and do things to better their lives. We give small tokens of our appreciation, are kinder than we usually are, and try to spread love, compassion and joy to those around us.

So it is only natural that in this spirit of giving we consider the best gift of all: health. Helping someone to maintain their healthy lifestyle, or giving them the opportunity to jumpstart a new routine, truly is the gift that keeps on giving. This holiday season, please remember to love each other, treat others are you would wish to be treated, and give the gift of health.
